My patients often ask me to show them exercises to help improve or maintain flexibility in the legs. Some lower extremity stretches can be difficult to do, especially while on the go or in the office. Other stretches, like towel stretches, are a simple way to work on your flexibility whenever you want.
The towel calf stretch is a great exercise to perform to help improve the flexibility in your calf muscles. Simply use a towel wrapped around your foot to help pull your foot up and stretch the muscles in the back of your legs. If you don't have a towel, you can use your belt or a strap. Just be sure to check with your physical threrapist to ensure that flexibility exercises are right for you.
