The weather is getting a bit cold in the US these past few weeks, and my local ski area has been making snow and preparing the slopes. This past weekend, they even opened up some of the runs for those die hard skiers and snowboarders who want to get an early jump on the snow season.
Skiing and snowboarding are great sports, but they require significant balance and strength. If you haven't yet, you should start some exercises to prepare for the ski season. Exercises that focus on the quadriceps, hamstrings, and calves can help you attain and maintain adequate lower extremity strength to handle the extreme forces that the body experiences during alpine activities.
