Great picture of a well known exercise that is one of the basics of McKenzie as well.

I found that this exercise is great in creating space between the vertebrae, allowing the invertebral disc to ‘hang loose’again and get back in their natural shape.

I have also found that this exercise alone is not enough, I wonder if your research shows the same as mine, i.e.: people with back problems have in common that the multifidus muscles are no longer properly activated, leading to a lesser stabilisation of the lower back area.
