Signs and Symptoms of Spinal Cord Injuries

Injury to the spinal cord results in the following symptoms. However, each injury varies by the level of the spinal cord involved:

Loss of muscle movement, or paresis
Loss of sensations such as the ability to feel heat, cold, pain, and touch
Loss of bowel or bladder function
Changes in sexual function and fertility
Difficulty breathing, coughing, and clearing secretions from the lungs
