Overview

Reflex sympathetic dystrophy, or RSD, is a complex neurological condition that is characterized by symptoms of burning, swelling, sweating, and increased sensitivity of the affected extremity. Reflex sympathetic dystrophy occurs from a disturbance in the sympathetic nervous system. The exact cause of RSD is unknown, however it often occurs after trauma to the involved extremity.
